• providing one-to-one counselling with children, adolescents or adults (dependent on area of expertise)
• specialisation in other areas such as Aboriginal people, gender diverse people, may also form part of a work day routine
• facilitating family meetings or individual support sessions
• liaising with forensic departments such as Police, Corrections NSW, or legal professionals
• preparation of forensic reports, family law reports, and, report writing
• liaising and building relationships with services which support people who have experienced sexual assault e.g. refuges, doctors, hospitals
• working in partnership with an afterhours crisis service 24/7 via hospital emergency departments
• attend relevant professional development training to maintain currency of practice.
Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Social Welfare; relevant degree in Psychology with eligibility for membership of recognised professional association in addition to evidence of meeting NSW Health Service Health Professional (State) Award.
practicing health professional and undertake specialist Sexual Assault Worker training through the Education Centre Against Violence [ECAV].
