Service Details

•    assess and diagnose a person’s sight problems
•    maintain accurate client case histories
•    make referrals to doctors for specialist treatment or surgery
•    use specific devices to treat conditions or prescribe specialised glasses
•    liaise with nursing and medical staff
•    keep up to date with new techniques and developments
•    provide information to patients about diagnoses and required treatment
•    where required develop ongoing treatment plans
•    attend relevant professional development training to maintain currency of practice.

Registration

Eligible for registration with the Orthoptic Board of Australia.

Education

Master of Orthoptics which is only offered at the University of Technology Sydney in NSW, and clinical placement.
