• examine patients' feet to determine the nature and extent of conditions, deformities and injuries
• examine and treat foot and leg abnormalities caused by diseases such as diabetes
• prescribe and organize corrective footwear to address foot abnormalities
• prescribe and fit devices for the protection and correction of foot abnormalities
• advise patients about continued treatment and foot care
• provide rehabilitation services to the physically handicapped
• work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess the necessity of consulting a Podiatrist
• treat a wound of the foot to prevent an admission to hospital
• attend relevant professional development training to maintain currency of practice.
Registration as a Podiatrist with AHPRA.
Bachelor of Podiatry or Podiatric Medicine and clinical placement. To practice as a Podiatrist you must be registered with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
