• meet with a new client and diagnose their condition
• develop a treatment and/or educational plan
• work with existing patients on therapeutic programs
• assist where required in public health or research activities
• attend patients on the ward to assist with swallowing and feeding difficulties (young or older people)
• educate patient/family/carers on at home extension of treatment
• work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess the necessity of a patient working with a Speech Pathologist
• work with children or adults who experience such conditions as speech impediments
• attend relevant professional development training to maintain currency of practice.
Must hold a qualification recognised by Speech Pathology Australia.
