• meet new clients and assess their situation and requirements
• develop treatment plans
• conduct therapy session with existing clients, individually or in groups
• meet with other professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team to discuss the treatment of a client
• adapt existing or create new music therapy assessment practices and procedures to meet an individual client's needs
• conduct ongoing assessments and follow-ups on clients
• participate in research activities or evaluation processes
• analyse or synthesize client data to draw conclusions or make recommendations for therapy
• review research or literature in music therapy or related disciplines
• assess client functioning levels, strengths, and areas of need in terms of perceptual, sensory, affective, communicative, musical, or other abilities
• attend relevant professional development training to maintain currency of practice.
Eligibility for membership with the Australian Music Therapy Association.
